Glass has the property of conducting light. The principle of TIR – total internal reflection –where light remains invisible until it reaches an edge inspired the design of the GUISE collection. Exploring the relationship between light and transparency while testing different materials for their ability to internally reflect LED light, glass proved to be the most suitable medium. Guise transforms the steril bright light originating from a concealed LED source into a potent atmospheric glow. The wall-mounted disc was the starting point: light surfaces along its perimeter creating a magic halo, with the wall serving as reflector. Employing the same principle to a tubular clear body of glass, light travels undetected until it emanates from the engraved patterns creating a potent glow that’s dimmable.
